We had the nicest weekend here at Maumee Bay State Park. Steve and I met up with the Forest River Owners Group (F.R.O.Gs) and had a bit of a rally. It was great fun and we met some really wonderful people from Ohio, Michigan and Indiana.
Let me rephrase, some of the people were a bit crazy but a lot of fun and we are so happy to have spent some time with them this weekend.. We exchanged contact information and I know that we'd love to hook up with these people again in the future. But even if our travel schedule doesn't permit it, we still really appreciated meeting everyone.
Going fulltime requires you to leave family and friends but his weekend demonstrated for us that there are really nice people out there for us to meet and we won't really be "alone" when we travel.
One thing I learned from the retirees in our group. From now on, the week constists of Saturday, Saturday, Saturday, Saturday, Saturday, Saturday, Sunday. Yeah, no kidding!!!!!
For those of you who are not familiar, Maumee Bay State Park is about 10 minutes east of Toledo. It has a great beach on Lake Erie as well as another beach on an interior lake. It also boasts a beautiful golf course as well as a 2-mile boardwalk through around a nature preserve. There is also a lodge with a very nice restaurant and swimming pool. There are always activities going on that entertain the family. This weekend they had a kite flying extravaganza. There were some standard kites, but for the most part these kites were quite large and very elaborate. Different shapes, bright colors, long tails. Very cool. Great place!
